I’m happy to stumble upon your nice investigation on environment. Thank you for that. Can you tell me any web sources or standard print encyclopedia of the history of ideas where I can further study the emergence of the modern sense and usage of environment in the 19th century?
Thanks for this really meaningful explanation. I looked in my Shorter Oxford English Dictionary. It gave some of the information and it helped but your explanation puts it all very well into perspective. Helps to understand the English language better. Now I can then explain to my students, who struggle to spell it.
