My mother frequently used the phrase “get the studs” when my little brother was being stubborn or obstinate. Ex. “Don’t you get the studs on me!” She was born in Florida. Her father was from Georgia and her mother from South Carolina. As I recall, I never heard either of her parents use that expression.
