    Lobscouse is supposedly a traditional dish from Liverpool – one of the UK’s main trading ports, so not difficult to spot a nautical connection – so much so that people from Liverpool are nicknamed ‘scousers’ and ‘scouse’ is the Liverpool dialect. I believe Lobscouse there is traditionally made with lamb, although aboard ship I supposed they would ‘lob’ (that is throw) in whatever meat was to hand.
