I love it! Thank you. In the past 10 minutes I’ve seen writing from a public school teacher and a syndicated journalist – on completely unrelated websites – that misuses this word.
It is very interesting that people often criticise the use of ‘Throes’ when it’s used to describe something positive. It is meant to describe great turmoil and/or pain at the end of something but we use the phrase ‘Throes of Passion’ without debate. Maybe that says something about how we see love and hate or pleasure and pain.
