    Does the calciata > cause path go through the French word “chaussée”?

    And where does the verb “sound” (to find the depth of a body of water) come from? Any connection to the geographical “sound” above?

    Why, “of course”? I see nothing in the words “cause” or “way” to make it a raised road.
